PMI is the largest independently owned, private allied health school in the U.S.  and is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). The exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions with four answers per choice. Candidates have 3.0 hours to complete the exam. Launched in 1984, PMI's first credential was the PMP. It has since become a de facto standard certification in project management. In 2007 it earned the ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). As of May 2020 over one million people held the PMP credential. 
The ten knowledge areas, each of which contains some or all of the project management processes, are: Project Integration Management : the processes and activities needed to identify, define, combine, unify, and coordinate the various processes and project management activities within the project management process groups.
