Allen Dixon in around 1865. [1] The Church is now deconsecrated, and is now the Clifftown Theatre, and hosts the East 15 theatre school run by the University of Essex.
The parish was thereafter an urban parish and so had no parish council of its own, being administered directly by Southend-on-Sea Corporation. In 1911 the parish had a population of 3,954.
