In February 2020, Ultimate Software announced its plan to merge with Kronos Incorporated to form a cloud-computing venture specializing in human resource software. The merger was completed on April 1, 2020. The company is named Ultimate Kronos Group. [7] [8]

Kronos is an operating system with time-sharing capabilities, written by Control Data Corporation in 1971. [1] Kronos ran on the 60-bit CDC 6000 series mainframe computers and their successors.
The Kronos workstation includes an operating system named Excelsior, developed by the Kronos Research Group (KRG). It is a single user system based on Modula-2 modules. [5] In design, it is similar to the OS Medos-2, developed for the Lilith workstation, at ETH Zurich, by Svend Erik Knudsen with advice from Niklaus Wirth.
