Jharkhand is located in the eastern part of India and is enclosed by West Bengal to the eastern side, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh to the western side, Bihar to the northern part and Odisha to the southern part. Jharkhand envelops a geographical area of 79,716 square kilometres (30,779 sq mi).

At the time of formation, Jharkhand state had 18 districts. Later, six more districts were carved out by reorganizing these districts. The 23rd and 24th districts- Khunti and Ramgarh (carved out of erstwhile Ranchi and Hazaribagh District respectively) were made a district on 12 September 2007.
Paiki: Also known as Paika is a nagpuri martial dance performed by men wearing ghungroos. The dance is composed of sword and shield carrying accompanied by music played on the Nagara, Dhak, and Shehnai. Chhau dance: A semi-classical dance with martial, tribal, and folk traditions. Seraikella Chhau is found in Seraikella district of Jharkhand.
The project was placed under the Local Government Division. The Birth and Death Registration Act 1873 and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1886 were repealed. A new Birth and Death Registration Act was passed in 2004. The law allowed local government bodies and Bangladesh embassies abroad to register births and deaths.
After the independence of Bangladesh in 1972, two separate ministries namely Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation and Ministry of Food were formed. In 1982, the two ministries were merged into two departments under the Ministry of Food; namely - the Food Department and the Relief and Rehabilitation Department.
