The University of New Mexico ( UNM; Spanish: Universidad de Nuevo México) [7] is a public research university in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1889 by the New Mexico Territorial Legislature, it is the state's second oldest university, the flagship university in the state, and the largest by enrollment, with 22,630 students in 2023.

1976–2022. Steven A. Seifert (1950–2022) was an American medical toxicologist. He was a professor of emergency medicine at the University of New Mexico, as well as the medical director of the New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center. Since 2017, he was the editor-in-chief of Clinical Toxicology. [1] He was also a jazz tenor saxophonist.
