The South Shore Bungalow Historic District is a residential historic district in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The district contains 229 Chicago bungalows and twenty other residential buildings built between 1911 and 1930. The Kenwood District is a historic district in the officially designated Kenwood community area of Chicago, Illinois bounded by E. 47th and E. 51st Streets, S. Blackstone and S. Drexel Avenues. Jackson Park is a 500-acre (2 km 2) park on Lake Michigan in the neighborhoods of Woodlawn, Hyde Park, and bordering South Shore. The land for Jackson Park was set aside in the 1870s. The area was originally a "rough, tangled stretch of bog and dune" until it was transformed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the architect of New York City's Central Park.
History. The school was established by the Chicago Board of Education as Hyde Park High School in 1863. The school was housed in several locations from its opening until 1886 when the board of education dedicated a three-floor school building located at Kimbark Avenue and 56th Streets in Hyde Park neighborhood.
