The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 1987.
In 2011, Hilliard City School District was once again awarded with the "Excellent with Distinction" rating by the Ohio Department of Education. The district operates 14 elementary schools (K-5th Grades), two sixth grade schools, three middle schools (7-8th Grades), and three high schools (9-12th grades).
A crowning achievement of the district was the opening, during the 1970–1971 school year, of two new high schools: Westland High School and Grove City High School. These two buildings, planned to house two thousand students, were built in 1970-1971 at the amazing low cost of $18.98 per square foot, or a perpupil cost of $1,700.

The building opened in 1929 after the school moved out of its previous location on 16th Avenue. [2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
