Southern Illinois University Edwardsville ( SIUE) is a public university in Edwardsville, Illinois. [5] Located within the Metro East of Greater St. Louis, SIUE was established in 1957 as an extension of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. [6] It is the younger of the two major institutions of Southern Illinois University system.
The Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine (SIU-SDM or SDM) is a part of SIUE and is located in Alton on the campus of the former Shurtleff College.
