Olive–Harvey College began serving residents of the South Side in the late 1950s with the opening of the Fenger and Southeast campuses of the City Colleges of Chicago. These two campuses were then consolidated and renamed Olive–Harvey College in 1970. The 67 acres (27 ha) college is the largest campus of any of the City Colleges.

Wilbur Wright Field was a military installation and an airfield used as a World War I pilot, mechanic, and armorer training facility and, under different designations, conducted United States Army Air Corps and Air Forces flight testing.
Wright's sons Wilbur and Orville provided publishing services for the new organization until a publishing house could be established in Huntington, Indiana. Wright also provided valuable support to Huntington College (now Huntington University), established by the Old Constitution branch in 1897.

Moody Bible Institute (MBI) is a private evangelical Christian [2] [3] Bible college in Chicago, Illinois. It was founded by evangelist and businessman Dwight Lyman Moody in 1886. Historically, MBI has maintained positions that have identified it as non-charismatic , dispensational , and generally Calvinistic . [ 4 ]
In 1973, the term "junior college" was changed to "community college" by statute, but one college (Joliet Junior College) in the system has retained the term "junior" in its name. Community college district numbers are given for each district. Some colleges were established by school districts prior to being organized as college districts.
