The Northwest Herald is a daily tabloid newspaper published in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The paper serves the northwest suburbs of Chicago, including all of McHenry County and northern Kane County. Its main competition is the Daily Herald.

Amy Elizabeth LePeilbet (born March 12, 1982) is an American women's soccer associate coach for the Salt Lake Bruins, and a retired professional and international player. She was the interim head coach of Utah Royals FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) until its 2020 dissolution and relocation.
The Daily Herald counts 1898 as its founding date. The paper grew along with northwestern Cook County after World War II, as four-lane highways and the expansion of the Chicago & North Western's commuter rail line in the northwest suburbs (now the Union Pacific/Northwest Line) turned it into a suburban area. It became a tri-weekly in 1967.

The paper was founded in 1904 as the Joliet Herald. In 1913, its founder, Ira Clifton Copley, purchased the Joliet News, a paper that had been founded in 1877. In 1915, the two papers were merged producing the Herald-News. In 2000, Copley Press sold the publication to Hollinger International (later the Sun-Times Media Group).
