Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology. The Academy for the Arts, Science and Technology (shortened as AAST or The Academy) is a branch school of the Horry County Schools system in Horry County, South Carolina. It has a focus on specific career majors and has qualifying status as a Blue Ribbon School and as a New American High School.
History. TAU's origins date back to 1956, when three research institutes: the Tel Aviv School of Law and Economics (established in 1935), the Institute of Natural Sciences (established in 1931), and the Academic Institute of Jewish Studies (established in 1954) – joined to form Tel Aviv University.

The AAST was founded in April 1978 when thirty to forty sleep technologists gathered. The organization was originally called the Association of Polysomnographic Technologists (APT). The APT for many years grew slowly. In 2000 it had almost 1,200 members. At the end of 2003 the APT had just under 2,000 members.
