Hobart (/ ˈhoʊbɑːrt / HOH-bart, locally [ˈhoʊbərt]) is a city in Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 29,752 at the 2020 census, up from 29,059 in 2010. It has been historically primarily residential, though recent annexation has added a notable retail corridor to the city.
In 2023, a Democratic precinct caucus chose Vinzant to replace incumbent Eddie Melton, who had resigned from the Senate following his election as mayor of Gary, and serve out the remaining eleven months of Melton's term. He had also previously served as local councilmember on the Hobart City Council. [1]

gary.gov. Gary (/ ˈɡæri / GARR-ee) is a city in Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 69,093 at the 2020 census, [4] making it Indiana's eleventh-most populous city. The city has been historically dominated by major industrial activity and is home to U.S. Steel 's Gary Works, the largest steel mill complex in North America.
According to the 2010 census, Lake Station has a total area of 8.431 square miles (21.84 km 2), of which 8.3 square miles (21.50 km 2) (or 98.45%) is land and 0.131 square miles (0.34 km 2) (or 1.55%) is water. [ 8 ] The city lies on the Calumet Shoreline, which is seen today as a sand ridge.
