UAH has played their home games at Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama since the inception of the program in 1979. The Chargers claim three National Club Championships and two NCAA Division II National Championships in addition to making a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament.
2014–15 →. The 2013–14 Alabama–Huntsville Chargers ice hockey team represented the University of Alabama in Huntsville in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season. The Chargers were coached by Mike Corbett who was in his first season as head coach. His assistant coaches were Gavin Morgan and Matty Thomas.
The team completed the regular season with 22 wins, 3 losses, and 3 ties. UAH was then invited to play the Bemidji State Beavers in a two-game series to determine the Division II National Championship at Huntsville's Von Braun Center. The Chargers would take the championship after a 6–2 victory on March 13 and a 5–2 victory the following day.

The Chargers are coached by Kurt Kleinendorst who is in his first season as head coach. His assistant coaches are Gavin Morgan and Tim Flynn.
New UAH president Dr. Robert Altenkirch reversed the decision after he and school administrators met with local supporters on December 6, 2011. UAH continued to play at the NCAA Division I level for the 2012–13 season. The school set up a campaign to raise funds for the program, with the goal of getting the Chargers into a conference.
