Early life and high school. McCarthy was born on January 20, 2003, in La Grange Park, Illinois. He attended Nazareth Academy for high school until transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, as a senior in 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of Nazareth's football season.
