Bootstrapping is any test or metric that uses random sampling with replacement (e.g. mimicking the sampling process), and falls under the broader class of resampling methods. Bootstrapping assigns measures of accuracy ( bias, variance, confidence intervals, prediction error, etc.) to sample estimates.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning. Bootstrapping is a technique used to iteratively improve a classifier 's performance. Typically, multiple classifiers will be trained on different sets of the input data, and on prediction tasks the output of the different classifiers will be combined.
W3C Markup Validation Service. Tag certifying that a website has been checked for well-formed XHTML (above) and CSS (below) markup. The Markup Validation Service is a validator by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) that allows Internet users to check pre-HTML5 HTML and XHTML documents for well-formed markup against a document type definition.
Resampling (statistics) In statistics, resampling is the creation of new samples based on one observed sample. Resampling methods are: Permutation tests (also re-randomization tests) Bootstrapping. Cross validation. Jackknife.
Content delivery network. A content delivery network or content distribution network ( CDN) is a geographically distributed network of proxy servers and their data centers. The goal is to provide high availability and performance by distributing the service spatially relative to end users. CDNs came into existence in the late 1990s as a means ...
Help:Markup validation. The W3C Markup Validation Service lets editors check web pages for conformance to HTML and XHTML standards. It is helpful for catching minor problems such as duplicate section names or citation IDs. Although most major browsers will tolerate many of the errors, and will display a document successfully even if it contains ...
In statistics, the jackknife (jackknife cross-validation) is a cross-validation technique and, therefore, a form of resampling . It is especially useful for bias and variance estimation. The jackknife pre-dates other common resampling methods such as the bootstrap. Given a sample of size , a jackknife estimator can be built by aggregating the ...
The approximation of a normal distribution with a Monte Carlo method. Monte Carlo methods, or Monte Carlo experiments, are a broad class of computational algorithms that rely on repeated random sampling to obtain numerical results. The underlying concept is to use randomness to solve problems that might be deterministic in principle.
