The United States Military Academy ( USMA) ( West Point or Army) [8] is a United States service academy in West Point, New York. It was originally established as a fort during the American Revolutionary War, as it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City.

The United States Military Academy (West Point) and grounds were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960 [2] due to the Revolutionary War history and the age and historic significance of the academy itself. The majority of the buildings in the central cadet area are historic.

Army and Navy Academy in 2021. The academy was founded by Colonel Thomas A. Davis as the Davis Military Academy on November 23, 1910. It was originally located in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego, California. In 1936, the academy moved to Carlsbad, California, and was renamed the San Diego Army and Navy Academy.
