The origins of Virginia Commonwealth University begin in 1838, which was when the Medical department of Hampden-Sydney College was founded. By 1844, the Egyptian Building was erected, serving as the main building for the Hampden-Sydney Medical Department. The name "Egyptian Building" was coined due to its Egyptian revival style of architecture.

The College of Health Professions is located on VCU's MCV Campus and was created in 1969. The name of the college was formerly the "School of Allied Health Professions" but was changed to its current moniker in 2018. [3] Today, the College enrolls approximately 1,300 students. All departments are headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
Student life. VCU arts Qatar has 294 undergraduate students representing 33 nationalities and 1017 graduate students representing 60 different nationalities. The university was originally opened for women, but in 2008 began also accepting men. Per VCU's agreement with Qatar Foundation, at least 70% of admitted students must be Qatari citizens.
Housing at Virginia Commonwealth University is managed by VCU Residential Life & Housing. The university currently houses 6,300 residents in twelve residence halls across two campuses.
