A domain model is generally implemented as an object model within a layer that uses a lower-level layer for persistence and "publishes" an API to a higher-level layer to gain access to the data and behavior of the model. In the Unified Modeling Language (UML), a class diagram is used to represent the domain model.
The Executable UML method limits the UML elements that can be used in an Executable UML class diagram. An Executable UML class diagram is meant to expose information about the domain. Too much complexity in the statechart diagrams is a good indicator that the class diagram should be reworked.
In software engineering, a class diagram[1] in the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a type of static structure diagram that describes the structure of a system by showing the system's classes, their attributes, operations (or methods), and the relationships among objects. The class diagram is the main building block of object-oriented modeling.
A diagram is a partial graphic representation of a system's model. The set of diagrams need not completely cover the model and deleting a diagram does not change the model. The model may also contain documentation that drives the model elements and diagrams (such as written use cases). UML diagrams represent two different views of a system ...
Entity–relationship model. An entity–attribute-relationship diagram for an MMORPG using Chen's notation. An entity–relationship model (or ER model) describes interrelated things of interest in a specific domain of knowledge. A basic ER model is composed of entity types (which classify the things of interest) and specifies relationships ...
Domain-specific modeling (DSM) is a software engineering methodology for designing and developing systems, such as computer software. It involves systematic use of a domain-specific language to represent the various facets of a system. Domain-specific modeling languages tend to support higher-level abstractions than general-purpose modeling ...
Applications of UML. UML (Unified Modeling Language) is a modeling language used by software developers. [1] UML can be used to develop diagrams and provide users (programmers) with ready-to-use, expressive modeling examples. [note 1] Some UML tools generate program language code from UML. [2] UML can be used for modeling a system independent ...
Diagram data is normally not contained with the program source, such that the UML tool, at least in the initial step, has to create some random layout of the graphical symbols of the UML notation or use some automatic layout algorithm to place the symbols in a way that the user can understand the diagram. For example, the symbols should be ...
