The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) is a Group 'C' civil service recruitment body for Bihar Police created by a bill of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.The commission's purpose is to select applicants in various government departments for Group 'C' staff jobs in the Bihar Police according to the merits of the applicants and the rules of reservation.
It is a Constitutional body under Article 315 of the Constitution of India . The Bihar Public Service Commission initially began its functioning for the State of Bihar with its headquarters at Ranchi. The State Government decided to shift the headquarters of the Commission from Ranchi to Patna and it was finally shifted to Patna on 1 March 1951.
The 2022 Bihar Caste Based Survey was notified by the Government of Bihar on 6 June 2022 by gazette notification after a Supreme Court ruling. [3] [4] The survey was conducted in two phases, house listing and caste and economic enumeration. The data collection for the survey began on 7 January 2023 and the data was released on 2 October 2023.
The Bihar Police Academy trains officers of the Bihar Police, who have been selected through Examination conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission and Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission.
