Pima Medical Institute was founded in Tucson, Arizona, in January 1972 by Richard Luebke, Sr. and his wife, JoAnn. The first program offered was nursing assistant . Based on job demands in the community, Pima grew their programs and campuses to fill those needs, [4] including the launch of online programs in 2006.

As an academic medical center, patients at UVA are treated by physicians who are also faculty members at the UVA School of Medicine. The Claude Moore Health Sciences Library serves the School of Medicine and the Health System and is located within the Medical Center. From years 2016–2019, UVA Hospital was named the number 1 hospital in Virginia.
Admissions. Admission to MSTPs is the most competitive of all graduate medical education programs in the country. In 2018, 672 of 1855 total applicants successfully matriculated into MD-PhD programs (36.2%), but only 513 of these slots were at MSTPs, making the matriculation rate for MSTPs nationally 27.7%.
History. The college was first conceived by local residents who petitioned the University of Virginia to establish a college in Wise. As support for a college grew, the Commonwealth of Virginia appropriated $5,000 to open, staff, and operate the college as a two-year junior college on a trial basis for a year; and if successful, another $5,000 would be available for a second year.
Pima Post. The Pima Post is the student newspaper at Pima Community College. It was created in the 1970s as the Campus News (1973 to 1977), then named the Aztec Campus News (1977–1978), the Aztec News (1978–1981), the Aztec Press (1982–2021) before becoming the Pima Post in 2021.
