The Supreme Court of India in 2018 ruled that although the UIDAI (Unique Identification Development Authority of India) Act is constitutionally valid, the possession of Aadhar cannot be made a prerequisite for services like opening and operation of bank accounts, admissions in educational institutions or availing of mobile connections.
