It was incorporated by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1893. The school most likely opened in 1890, after the establishment of the town's name. From 1963 to 1999, Andrews High held students of Junior and Senior High. In 1998, a new campus built between Wakefield Road and US-19 Business was constructed.
