The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), commonly known as the Rocky Mountain Conference (RMC) from approximately 1910 through the late 1960s, is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, which operates in the western United States.
Completed in 2015, the Assembly Athletic Complex is the home site for six of the Roadrunners’ 15 sports, including, baseball, softball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's tennis. The site is located south of the Colfax viaduct adjacent to Shoshone Street, east of I-25.

Field played college baseball at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. He played two seasons (1997–98), earning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Pitcher of the Year honors in his senior season. He was a two-time All-RMAC First Team selection and a First Team All-American in 1998.
The Orediggers claimed the institution's first-ever Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) All-Sports Cup during the 2011–12 academic year, and repeated in 2015–16. The 2015–16 season saw Mines win their first NCAA team championship (men's cross country) while claiming five RMAC regular-season and three RMAC Tournament titles.
The Fort Lewis College football team won the RMAC championship in 1984 and defeated Dixie State to win the 2006 Dixie Rotary Bowl. Quarterback Andrew Webb (2000-2003) holds the single game RMAC passing record with 636 yards vs. Mesa State on 11/16/2002 and has the 3rd-highest RMAC career passing yards with 11,742.
The Men's Cross-Country team placed 10th in the nation at the 1998 NCAA Division II National Championship. In the 2008–09 season, the NMHU men's basketball team broke the NCAA record for turnaround wins in all divisions. They went from 1–28 to 20–8 and winning the West Division Regular Season Championship of the RMAC.
