Madera South High School (also known as Madera South, Madera South High or MSHS) is a high school located in Madera, California and is part of the Madera Unified School District. Previously functioning as the second campus of the town's other high school, Madera High, the school officially became Madera's second official high school in August 2006.
From the 1902 to 1966 the school was officially named Madera Union High School. In 1989, the Madera Unified School District commissioned the building of a new, separate high school; overcrowding at MHS was the main reason for this. Construction began in 1990, but the project was brought to an abrupt end in 1992, for budget reasons.

On May 16, 1893, Madera County officially became a county of the state of California and the town incorporated as the City of Madera on March 27, 1907. One of the city's first African Americans to hold an elected office was Rev. Naaman N. Haynes, who was voted in as a Madera Unified School District school board trustee in the 1960s.
