The University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC or Kansas City) is a public research university in Kansas City, Missouri. UMKC is part of the University of Missouri System and has a medical school. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the university's enrollment was over 15,300 students.
The University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine, established in 1971, is one of three medical schools located near downtown Kansas City and only one of two public medical schools in the state of Missouri. The school offers an accelerated combined B.A./M.D. program based on a six-year curriculum.
UMKC is the only public dental school in Missouri and trained approximately two thirds of the dentists practicing in Missouri. [1] It enrolls approximately 110 students each year in its 4-year DDS program. It also has an RDH program, an AEGD program, as well as specialty residencies in Periodontics, Orthodontics, Endodontics, and Oral Surgery.
