The district comprises most of Bolingbrook and Romeoville, Illinois. Formed in 1972, the district serves the educational needs of more than 18,000 students in 20 educational facilities.
Valley View Community Unit School District 365U was originally known as District 96. It took its present name when it became the first school district in the United States to implement the 45-15 plan, in which schools were occupied year round with 3/4 of the students in session at any one time.

Romeoville is a village in Will County, Illinois, United States. The village is located 26 mi (42 km) southwest of Chicago on the Gateway Wetlands, directly west of the Des Plaines River. Per the 2020 census, the population was 39,863. [4] It is located in the southwest suburban area of Chicago near Interstate 55 and Interstate 355 .
The district began as a Kindergarten-8th Grade (K-8) district, with its students attending Naperville Central High School for 9th Grade-12th Grade until Waubonsie Valley High School was constructed for District 204 and opened in 1975. The district opened eleven buildings during the 1990s, at all levels of primary and secondary education.
