Huntington High School (originally Huntington School Of Excellence) is a public high school located at 6801 Rasberry Lane in the Pines Road area of West Shreveport, Louisiana. Established in 1972 it is grades 9-12 [ 1 ] Home Of The Raiders It is a part of Caddo Public Schools and also has a Magnet Program.
Caddo Parish, the parish which governs the city of Shreveport, contacted George Peabody College in 1949 to survey the city's school system and recommend ways to improve it. [1] The following year, the survey was completed, and recommended the construction of a new high school in southwestern Shreveport within the following 15 years. [ 1 ]
The Louisiana School was the second state-supported residential school of its kind — the first being the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, which opened in 1980. Paul Joseph Carmouche (born June 23, 1943) is an American lawyer who served as a five-term District Attorney for Caddo Parish, Louisiana from 1979 to 2009. Before his tenure as district attorney, Carmouche graduated from Loyola University New Orleans Law School in 1969 and worked as an assistant in the DA's office from 1974 to 1977.
