Microsoft Outlook is a personal information manager software system from Microsoft, available as a part of the Microsoft 365 software suites. Though primarily being popular as an email client for businesses, Outlook also includes functions such as calendaring, task managing, contact managing, note-taking, journal logging, web browsing, and RSS news aggregation.
Emails deleted from the apps will be placed in your Trash folder. Deleting email from the Trash removes it from your account. Apps that use POP. Desktop apps, like Outlook, Thunderbird, and Mac Mail, can access AOL Mail using POP. Copies of your email download to the app, so actions in the app won't affect your account.
When you get a message from a "MAILER-DAEMON" or a "Mail Delivery Subsystem" with a subject similar to "Failed Delivery," this means that an email you sent was undeliverable and has been bounced back to you. These messages are sent automatically and often include the reason for the delivery failure.

Chances are the settings in the program are set to delete the emails from the AOL server each time you check your mail.
