Droupadi Murmu is the 15th and current president, having taken office from 25 July 2022. The office of president was created when India became a republic on 26 January 1950 when its constitution came into force.
In March 2020 Murmu was in New Delhi on International Women's Day where the President Kovind presented twelve Nari Shakti Puraskar awards and Murmu was one of those chosen. [3] Later that month Murmu announced that she and Jamuna Tudu were to join forces to protect Jharkhand's forests. They were called "the Lady Tarzans" in the press.

[4] [5] [6] Until the nineteenth century, Santali people had no written language and knowledge was transmitted orally from one generation to other.
