A crowning achievement of the district was the opening, during the 1970–1971 school year, of two new high schools: Westland High School and Grove City High School. Beechcroft was first opened in 1976 as a six-year junior/senior high school. At that time, school enrollment peaked at 1,200+ students. Current enrollment is 658 students (2022-23).
