Portal is a series of first-person puzzle-platform video games developed by Valve.Set in the Half-Life universe, the two main games in the series, Portal (2007) and Portal 2 (2011), center on a woman, Chell, forced to undergo a series of tests within the Aperture Science Enrichment Center by a malicious artificial intelligence, GLaDOS, that controls the facility.
Creation. The painting was created for the cover of an edition of The Saturday Evening Post, published on 6 July 1946, from sketches that Rockwell made in March 1946. It depicts the cleaning of the amber-coloured glass of the torch, an operation undertaken annually each July.
On the canvas in front of the illustrator is an unfinished sketch of himself in his idealized art style. On the right side of the canvas Rockwell pinned self-portraits by Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh, and Picasso. A piece of paper with sketches sits on the left. In total, there are seven self-portraits depicted in the work.
