Mid Valley School District is a small, suburban, school district located in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, comprising the boroughs of Olyphant, Dickson City, and Throop. Mid Valley School District encompasses approximately 15 square miles (39 km 2). According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 15,193.
Mid Valley Secondary Center is a small, public combined junior high and senior high school located in Throop, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. It is the sole high school and junior high school operated by Mid Valley School District. In 2014, enrollment was reported as 786 pupils in 7th through 12th grades. The school employed 25 teachers (9-12).
Throop High School became Throop Elementary School. Currently, the district's two schools, Mid Valley Secondary Center and Mid Valley Elementary Center, are in Throop. Roads. In the Throop area, Interstate 81 is the main highway. Interstate 84, Interstate 380, and U.S. Route 6 meet I-81 at the Throop Dunmore Interchange in Dunmore near Throop.
In 1969, the Olyphant, Dickson City, and Throop school districts consolidated to form the Mid Valley School District. The Olyphant Junior High School became the Mid-Valley Senior High School. The annex of the Olyphant Elementary School had elementary school grades as well as some overflow classes from the senior high school.
