The Manual of Style guidelines for block quotations recommend formatting block quotations using the {{ Blockquote }} template or the HTML < blockquote > element, for which that template provides a wrapper. Quotes work best when used with short sentences, and at the start or end of a section, as a hint of or to help emphasize the section's content.
Double quotes are preferred in the United States, and also tend to be preferred in Australia (though the Australian Government prefers single quotes) and Canada. Single quotes are more usual in the United Kingdom, Ireland and South Africa, though double quotes are also common there, especially in journalistic works [clarification needed].
Text formatting in citations should follow, consistently within an article, an established citation style or system. Options include either of Wikipedia's own template-based Citation Style 1 and Citation Style 2, and any other well-recognized citation system. Parameters in the citation templates should be accurate.
