Formerly called. FHA, FHA-HERO. Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), formerly known as Future Homemakers of America, is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization [1] for young men and women in family and consumer sciences education in public and private schools through grades 6–12 since 1945. [2] [1]
History. FCA was founded in 1954 by Eastern Oklahoma A&M basketball coach Don McClanen, who later resigned to become its full-time director. After watching sports stars use fame to endorse and sell general merchandise, McClanen wrote to 19 prominent sports figures asking for their help in establishing an organization that would use the same principle to share the Christian faith.
As of the 2022–23 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,609 students and 109.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 14.7:1. There were 111 students (6.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 44 (2.7% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.
