UAH is a member of the Gulf South Conference in all sports except men's lacrosse, which plays in the men's lacrosse (Peach Belt Conference).
UAH has played their home games at Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama since the inception of the program in 1979. The Chargers claim three National Club Championships and two NCAA Division II National Championships in addition to making a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament.

2013–14 →. The 2012–13 Alabama–Huntsville Chargers ice hockey team represents the University of Alabama in Huntsville in the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season. The Chargers are coached by Kurt Kleinendorst who is in his first season as head coach. His assistant coaches are Gavin Morgan and Tim Flynn.
The Chargers played their home games in the Von Braun Center, and were a member of College Hockey America. The 2009–10 season marked the final season for men's hockey as part of College Hockey America; Niagara University and Robert Morris University moved to Atlantic Hockey, and Bemidji State moved to the WCHA for the 2010–11 season.
The team completed the regular season with 22 wins, 3 losses, and 3 ties. UAH was then invited to play the Bemidji State Beavers in a two-game series to determine the Division II National Championship at Huntsville's Von Braun Center. The Chargers would take the championship after a 6–2 victory on March 13 and a 5–2 victory the following day.
