Hào ( 號) is a colloquial term used to express the day of the month instead of rì ( 日 ). It is rarely used in formal writing. 2006èrlínglíngliù 年nián 1yī 月yuè 29èrshíjiǔ 號hào 星期日xīngqírì. Hào is more often used when the month is understood from the context, i.e.: 29号 for the 29th.
