Survival handbook of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) from 1944. Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) is a training concept originally developed by the United Kingdom during World War II. It is best known by its military acronym and prepares a range of Western forces to survive when evading or being captured.

The Defence Survive, Evade, Resist, Extract (SERE) Training Organisation (DSTO), is a military training organisation based at RAF St Mawgan, Cornwall, in the United Kingdom. It is tri-service and trains personnel in survival techniques, evading capture and resistance from interrogation.
Upon graduation of the course, students are awarded the Military Freefall Parachutist Badge. USAF SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) School, Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington (3 weeks). -Students will spend extended time out in the field learning navigation and survival techniques.
Before 2004, all potential recon Marine candidates were placed in Recon Indoctrination Program [2], or RIP. In RIP, the candidates are given further training in patrolling, amphibious reconnaissance, communications and land orientation which warmed-up the Marines before attending the rigorous and demanding Basic Reconnaissance Course (BRC).
The separate Air Force School at Homestead was discontinued. Students attending SERE training at Fairchild, were sent on temporary duty to Pensacola for this training. The school was moved to Fairchild in August 2015, and combined with the existing non-ejection water survival course to avoid the expenses associated with student travel. [2]
Before starting academics, students must complete Dunker training and Army SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) school. After SERE, students transition to Initial Entry Rotary Wing Aeromedical Training (also known as "aeromed") at the U.S. Army School of Aviation Medicine. They learn subjects about flight and the human body.
The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (SWCS) at Fort Liberty, N.C. manages and resources training, education and growth for Soldiers in the Army's special-operations branches. Approximately 3,100 students are enrolled in SWCS training programs at any given time.
The program involves intense academic preparation (particularly in English, math and science), along with athletic and military training, meant to prepare the students for appointment to the academy. A high percentage of USAFA Preparatory School students (known as "Preppies") earn appointments to the academy following their year at the Prep School.
