By July 16, 1949, the pillars of the building were constructed, and in 1950, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Minor Seminary was officially founded. In 1960, the diocesan clergy took over administration from the SVD, and the following year, the college department was opened. The minor seminary was gradually phased out in 1989.
