The University of Wales is a confederal university based in Cardiff, Wales, founded in 1893 as a federal university with three constituent colleges. It has undergone several reorganisations and changes, and now consists of several independent universities and transnational education courses.

[3] UWIC student teams, organised and administered by UWIC's Students' Union, [4] compete in the British Universities Sports Association competition and National League competitions.
The University of Glamorgan was a public university in South Wales that merged with University of Wales, Newport, in 2013 to form the University of South Wales. It had five campuses, four faculties and offered over 200 courses in various fields.
