Indiana Department of Natural Resources. McCormick's Creek State Park is the oldest state park in the U.S. state of Indiana, dedicated on July 4, 1916, as part of the state's centennial celebration. It is located 14 miles (23 km) west of Bloomington in Owen County. The park receives about 640,000 visitors annually.
The longest of the trails is the Lawrence Creek Trail, which is a 4.2-mile (6.8 km), single-track trail for mountain biking and walking. The wildflowers take the place of the ravines and steep hillsides typical of state parks in southern Indiana. Biking and fishing are also available; the park office sells the necessary state fishing permit.
As of 2006, some have advocated building a lodge within the park to supplement the campground store, similar to the lodges in seven other (but older) Indiana state parks. Facilities.
