The beach spanned from Courseulles , a village just east of the British beach Gold , to Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer , and just west of the British beach Sword .

USS Juneau (CL-52) was a United States Navy Atlanta -class light cruiser torpedoed and sunk at the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal on 13 November 1942.
