Garrison Cadet College Kohat is a boarding school, situated in the suburb of Kohat City. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The college has classes from class 8th to FSc (Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical Level). Students are inducted in class 8 and Class 11; after a 3-step selection process, which composed of a written test, interview and medical examination.
Foundation Stone of Cadet College Kohat was laid by Governor West Pakistan, Malik Amir Muhammad Khan on 19 April 1964. The first entry of 58 cadets was inducted in 8th class in April 1965 in Jinnah House. Lt Col (Retd) Faizullah Khan Khattak was the founder Principal of this premier residential academic institution.

On the directions of the then Chancellor KUST / Governor, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KP), Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, the KUST syndicate took a bold decision in 2005 to start the first ever Institute of Medical Sciences.
