Killeen Independent School District is a public school district based in Killeen, Texas . In addition to Killeen, the district serves the cities of Harker Heights and Nolanville as well as all students residing at Fort Cavazos. The district covers western Bell County and a small portion of Coryell County.

Cadets performed over 4,270 hours of community service in the 2016–2017 school year. They are frequent volunteers at the San Antonio Food Bank, have a long-standing relationship with the Helotes Cornyval Association and Scholarship Beauty Pageant and participate in 6-8 Elementary School Carnivals for Northside Independent School District schools.
During the school year of 1960-61, the Farnsworth Rose Garden was completed on the campus. Fort Smith High School was officially renamed Northside High School in 1963. Shortly thereafter, the Field House was opened and a marquee was installed in front of the campus in 1964. When Lincoln High School closed, Northside's enrollment continued to grow.
