Heritage High opened August 10, 2009, with 9th and 10th grade students. In 2010, 11th grade was added. In August 2011, the school officially became a high school with 9-12 grade with its first Senior class graduating in 2012. [5] It drew students from Bayside High School, Palm Bay High School, and Melbourne High School. [3]
In 2016, 50 students at AHS were named semifinalists to the National Merit Scholarship Program, the most in Florida and ninth in the nation. [16] In September 2018, 24 students on the Delray Beach campus and 70 students on the Plantation campus were named semifinalists to the 2019 National Merit Scholarship. [17]
In January 2007 school began an engineering magnet program known as Bayside Engineering and Technology Academy. [5] Beginning in the 2011-12 year, the school began a new academy, known as Bayside Fine and Technical Arts Academy (ENCORE).

In 2003, the Palm Beach County School Board named a planned new high school, "West Boca Raton Community High School." [5] The school building was constructed by James Pirtle Construction Inc. of Davie [6] at a cost of $46 million. [7]
