The Ministry of Jal Shakti (lit. ' Ministry of Water Resources ') is a ministry under Government of India which was formed in May 2019 under the second Modi ministry.This was formed by merging of two ministries; Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
On 3 September 2017 he was appointed Union Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. He defeated Vaibhav Gehlot, the son of Ashok Gehlot, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan from Jodhpur by a margin of 2.74 lakh votes in 2019 Indian general elections.
