Its schools are mostly based in Fountain, but it also has schools on the nearby Fort Carson military installation.

Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch (PV) is the main camping location of the Greater Colorado Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The camp, built in the 1960s by the Army Corps of Engineers, was a replacement to the original camp, Camp Tahosa. The camp is located just outside Elbert, Colorado .
