Baldi was born in Cava de' Tirreni, Salerno, on 19 May 1917. [2] His early film work began in Italy in the early 1950s with films such as Il Prezzo dell'Onore. [2] He directed Orson Welles in the films David and Goliath and The Tartars. [2] Baldi died in Italy on 12 September 2007.
Baldi would learn by reading about the USA in the letters coming back and attributed his fascination with life in the US to the letters. He immigrated from Italy to Philadelphia at age 14 with his father and 12-year old brother. Later he changed his name to "Charles Carmen Antonio Baldi" and adopted the "C.C.A.
