The UiTM R&D Roadmap specifically emphasised increasing the number of principal investigators and students to publish in Web of Science and Scopus journals. Research funding in UiTM has been steadily increasing from just over RM 14 million in 2006 to RM50.4 million in 2011.
As the third oldest branch campus, UiTM Perlis is also the largest UiTM branch campus, after the main campus in Shah Alam. It is a premier institution of higher learning in Perlis. Due to its location in Seksyen 17, Shah Alam, it is also known to some people as UiTM Seksyen 17. Despite the bumiputra-only admission policy of UiTM, INTEC admits non-bumiputra sponsored students. UiTM Faculty of Law is one of the professional graduate faculties of UiTM and is located in Shah Alam, Malaysia. It is among the notable public premier law school in Malaysia. The current Dean of the faculty is Dr. Hartini Saripan, who assumed the role in 2018. The faculty currently consists of some 100 academic staff.
The Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) is a 9-month post-graduate course and examination taken by foreign law graduates and graduates of the Bachelor of Jurisprudence (Hons) from the University of Malaya and Bachelor of Legal Studies (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi MARA, to become a qualified lawyer in Malaysia.
