The school is located in North Miami, Florida, on Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus. On June 12, 2009, longtime FIU benefactor Herbert Wertheim announced that he would donate $20 million to the FIU College of Medicine, to be matched by state funds for a total of $40 million.
