The Class D51 (D51形) is a type of 2-8-2 steam locomotive built by the Japanese Government Railways (JGR), the Japanese National Railways (JNR), and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Rolling Stock Company, Kisha Seizo, Hitachi, Nippon Sharyo, Mitsubishi, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries from 1936 to 1945 and 1950 to 1951. 174 units are in preservation in Japan, including five operational examples.

D51 road. D51 connects A3 motorway Nova Gradiška interchange to Nova Gradiška and Požega. [1] The road forms two junctions to D38 state road, one in Brestovac, where D38 branches off to Pakrac, and another 5 km (3.1 mi) further east, in Požega, where D38 branches off to Pleternica. Between those two junctions D51 and D38 are concurrent.

The train was running late in whiteout conditions when it overran a red home signal at Castlecary. Thankfully, there was no collision with the freight train at Dullatur East, but believing that the train was entering the next section, the signalman sent another express train, hauled by LNER Class A3 4-6-2 No. 2744 Grand Parade , into the section.
